Supplying Clean Water to Millions

The John Bunker Sands Wetland Center plays a pivotal role in addressing the essential need for sustainable water resources in North Texas. As part of a groundbreaking public-private partnership, the Center supports a natural, environmentally responsible water reuse system that provides up to 90 million gallons of filtered water each day—benefiting more than 2.3 million people. This innovative constructed wetland not only enhances water quality but also serves as a model for conservation, education, and ecological stewardship. By using nature-based solutions to meet growing demand, the Center helps ensure a reliable water supply while preserving vital habitats for wildlife and promoting awareness of water sustainability issues.
